      1st. Go to your main menu.
      2nd. Go to settings & tools.
      3rd. Select phone info.
      4th. Then software update.
      5th. Check new see if there is one.
note:there is a status option to see the status if there is an update.
please comment or message me for any other questions i will try to answer what i know.

Dude that does not actualy work. its there but verizon chooses non to let us use it.
You have to go into the store or use bitpim to update your phone, there are already tutorials on this site for both methods.

your right it does not work. I recieved my phone Thurs with sw version 2. I had it updated at the Verizon store today with ver 3. I tried to do it with the phone first and it didnt work. Took about 30 minutes

Yes you may be able to go their but as stated it doesn't work. But I also don't think that it actually worked on the Dare either.
