Can the LG be connected to a PC or Mac via phone line to dial up the internet?  -- I don't want to pay for a broadband access subscription.  I would just like to be able to use slower phone dial-up when needed.

Yes, but it is hella show and it uses your minutes. 14.4 kbps is all you can get over the voice channel.

Thanks for the reply.  I know how slow a phone line is, however, it may be worth it for my husband to use for job-related emergencies.  It probably isn't worth it for us to pay for internet capability because when we are away from home we usually want to be away from the internet because we spend so much work time using it.

My husband and I  had this capability using a verizon phone a few years back. We could connect the phone via usb and use  dial-up.  I just thought someone could point us in the right direction -- e.g. what software we need, etc.  We now have AT&T and have had horrible service.

Got my answer.  Found the configuration instructions to use CDMA cell as a modem for both PC and MAC for free.

I am having a problem with this. I used to do this with my enV and I have the versa I can't tether. I used SoCal.com and alot of other free ISPs and I can't get it to work. I tried to use the CDMA driver but I dont know if its that cause or not.

Getting an aircard is a much more efficient way of accessing the internet.  Faster processing, same portability.

Aircards can be had for free from Verizon with a new activation, and 59.99 a month for 5GB bandwidth isnt too shabby.
