So, I have a macintosh and (bear with me this may sound silly) I was curious if the versa was even compatible with my computer? I've tried most every method and I'm hoping I'm just missing something.. Anyways, if anyone had any words of wisdom I'd greatly appreciate it ^.^

you can use bitpim...its kinda tricky to figure out but i use bitpim for contacts, importing my schedule from ical then to the phone, ringtones, wallpapers...if you have a macbook or bluetooth in your computer you can connect to it using that

I was able to back up contacts with Bitpim through Bluetooth, but not USB.  Only worked on Windows Boot Camp with the LG USB driver.  No Mac driver.

What OS do you have?
I'm running Leopard personally and don't know much about Tiger.
I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't work with Tiger though.

I regularly transfer photos, music and videos with no problems whatsoever via Bluetooth as well as USB.
I had a little trouble doing the initial Bluetooth pairing with both my girlfriend's Versa and mine.
I can't remember if I put the mac in discovery and searched for devices on my phone or visa versa, but one way was easier than the other.  (I want to say Mac=Discoverable was easier, but both ways eventually worked)
I also remember having to search and enter the pairing number a couple of times.
It really only took a couple of minutes and a couple of tries.
On the Mac, I can not "browse the device" (device=Versa) via bluetooth on the Mac and I can not "Browse/Get Files" on the Versa.  I can however send and receive files flawlessly.

Regarding the USB, simply plug it in and go to Tools & USB Mass Storage.  Wait a few seconds and you should see an external hard drive icon appear on your desktop.  This method only acts as a card  reader, so you must have a card in the phone for USB Mass Storage.  Double click and you will find the folder structure for the card.
Reminder: Make sure you right click and "Eject" the icon before you exit the USB Mass storage.

That's about it.
Let me know if you still have any questions.

One more thing I just discovered . . .
If you have previously plugged the card into your Mac, you can not format the card in the phone.
You must format the card on a PC first to format it for the phone.
Boot Camp and Parallels don't work either, it must be a PC with Microsoft OS.
From there, transferring files to/from the Mac are a piece of cake.

Mac does not have the correct drivers for the phone, it doesn't work with USB.

I have Leopard and I have no problem.  I'm not sure about Tiger.
With Leopard, the phone acts more like a card reader and allows you to add, remove and modify data on the card, but not the memory on the phone.
With a card in my phone, I plug the phone in, the phone shows "Select Sync option for USB connection" with options "Music" & "Data" and I select Data.
Then, on my phone, I select Menu, Settings & Tools, Tools and finally USB Mass Storage.
The phone then shows "Connected..." and an icon shows up on my desktop. (I renamed mine "LG Versa SD")

When I double click the icon, it displays folders for media, my_flix, my_music, my_pix & my_sounds

From here, I add files & "eject" the icon when I'm done.
Try this process out with Tiger and if it doesn't work, I'd say it's most likely only compatible with Leopard.
Good luck!

Thanks, kevin.  It's really poor of the phone interface to put that USB Mass Storage hidden away in the Tools menu.  You'd think they would have ONE USB menu to manage everything.  Sounds like something designed by MS.

I still can't get Bitpim to recognize the phone through USB, only Bluetooth though.  I set USB to Data sync and also tried running it with USB Mass Storage on.

Hmm, even though my  computer doesn't detect the phone, bitpim does(through USB)
Running Mac OS 10.4.11(Tiger) and BitPim version 1.0.7
