I feel kind of stupid for asking this, but how do I add ringtones from my computer that are in the form of MP3s? I have the connector cable.

The way I did it was through Bitpim Just went into the file system to /brew/mod/10889/ringtones I put my short mp3 ring tones into their and restarted my phone and they appeared when I scrolled to the bottom of the ring tones than back to the top.

I'm having trouble getting BitPim to recognize the phone. There's no LX 9600 on the list of phones to detect.

dont know if this will help you now.. but what i do is since ihave a micro sd card and reader.. i just connect it to my computer.. drag and drop the files in the 'my sounds' folder thats already premade when you insert your sd card into your phone.. and then i just picture text the sound to myself and i can save it as a ringtone.
this is the alternative i had to find since the bitmap thing or whatever didnt work on my mac

I use www.audiko.net. You can upload your own mp3's or type in a URL (even youtube videos) and it will lay the track out and you can crop the ringtone where you want it to start and stop, fade in or out and the length. Then you can save it to your computer. I then use www.voyager-lg.com/contact/sendSMS.php to send it to my phone as a multimedia message. It works for the Versa too. You can then save the sound as a ringtone on your phone.

I got that BitPim program. When I get my phone's data or try to upload anything, there is an insane error I don't quite understand. I also used that Media Message link to send the 20 second mp3, but I can't figure out how to do anything with the attached file... when I check message properties it says there IS no attached file, even though something took a while to download. Any advice?

As a quick update-- I downloaded the non-Beta version and tried to set it to a Dare. No dice, it just selects it as some random type of phone and I cannot figure out how to change or modify it. Is anyone else having these problems, is my phone faulty, is this computer faulty or is LG just out to make fun of me for giving them my money for a product that does not work

Im not sure about how to make the bitpim work for you cause well I don't even have the versa yet. I do know another way to put ringtones on your phone. The way I normally do it is by putting them on my microsd. The other way is to sign up for an account on phonezoo.com. Once you have an account you can look for ringtones and send them to your phone via media message. You can also upload your own ringtones and send them to your phone. You also have the option of editing the mp3's you upload. I usually make the song fade out so it doesnt cut off and sound bad. Hope this is somewhat of a help.

You're gonna want the Beta version for the Versa. Not sure what the issue may be (com ports?) but when I started the latest beta version of BitPim and plugged my data cable in, it instantly recognized it as an LG Versa and told me what COM port it was attached to. If you had a previous version of BitPim, it may be reading old ini files from the data folder it creates in your User account folder. If it detects it as a different phone when you plug it in, try clicking on the "Detect Phone" button to reset it. My only other advice would be to restart the computer and try a different USB port on your PC. Sometimes a device will work in one port and other times I'll have to try a different one to get it to recognize "whatever" properly (not just the phone). kc

I finally got this work with my Versa.
Install the driver linked above for the modem.
Download Bitpim 1.0.7 Beta. Set BitPim to the Dare.
Do not have the "Mass Storage Device' enabled.
Hope this helped.

I do the same Micro Sd card method too.. just put them in the sounds folder, put my chip in my phone and send them to myself. Then just click save as ringtone. OR i send them to myself from my computer to my phone Via email. just use your phone number xxx-xxx-xxxx@vzwpix.com and do the same thing... save them as ringtones.
