I got a bunch of mp3's at http://beemp3.com (Or music files from Cd's) and shortened them using goldwave to the length I wanted them.  I then put them on the SD card.  I texted the file to myself and when I received the text, set it as a ringtone (or ID.)

Ya I use Audacity to make ringtones and then put them on my phone. I also use phonezoo.com because you can simply send them to your phone when your done in a media message. Plus if you don't want to take the time to make one they have a ton of ringtones other people have made that you can send to your phone.
