I'd been following this phone since the first rumors and sketches were posted online. I really liked the idea of it from the beginning, and once I found out about the music multitasking ability, my enV2 was no longer an object of envy at all! The morning it came out, I went to my local Verizon Wireless store and played with a brand new one, right out of the box (as they hadn't yet put one on display). I was in love!
My upgrade eligibility date was today, and I'd been counting down every hour for the past three weeks. At precisely midnight Eastern time last night, the VZW website told me I was eligible for a discounted upgrade, but for some reason would not accept my information to place an order. This afternoon, I visited the VZW store again to find out how much it would cost to upgrade it then and there. Finding that I would only be out the $50 (plus tax) that I would get back (less tax) in two to six weeks, I decided to go for it and bring my Versa home today!
I'm glad I did! I've been playing with this thing, trying to figure out its features and idiosyncrasies, and I feel like 90% of the time I could get by just fine without the Qwerty module. But that other 10% is what makes me really glad I went for this one and not the Dare.
I'm synching my music to it right now, and I have a headphone adaptor on the way because I plan to use it primarily to browse the web and play music, both with headphones and through my car's tape deck.
I am really looking forward to firmware updates in hopes that some of them address issues, particularly that I think you should be able to browse recent calls on the outside screen by pressing Send and using the volume buttons, and that the web browser should be capable of running in the background like the music player.
