hey all, name's West. Just got my Versa today in the mail, activated and updated to SW 04 at a Verizon store (lacking the data cable ATM). Great phone, definately a step up from the Chocolate 2 I had for 2 years now. Very satisfied with the phone and VZW PHONE customer service, very disappointed with store service.
So, the fight with Verizon you might ask?
Called VZW phone customer service... asked if I could use new every 2 credit early (I'm not supposed to be eligible until the 13th of next month). Phone CS says sure, but we don't have the phone with the keypad in stock, says to go to a local VZW near me because they do. She also remarks the Versa with keypad and without is the same price (no brainer, right?)
I wait 1:30 min in line.
Get to CS rep. She says no, Versa with keypad is NOT in stock, the versa phone is. If I want the Keypad I have to pay 30 dollars for them to order it... to top it off the 50 dollar new every two credit was DENIED by the store manager. I argued my case with the store manager, how I was already told to come here to get the phone, etc. Here I was informed that me using the credit early was up to the discretion of the store manager and apparently that was noted in my account... to which I was not informed, else I would have called beforehand. Though, he did offer to send me the keypad free at a later date.
Then he told me something interesting, "At the begining of the month every verizon store is alotted a certain budget that we're allowed to issue customers for discounts, we've already reached that limit for this month so I can't discount the phone for you." Apparently, it's my fault they can't budget their discount budget. Defeated, I storm out angrily.
I get home and call VZW phone customer service. I explain everything that happen. VZW Phone CS says he's mailing me a Versa, going to note my account that I'm due a free keypad as soon as they're in stock, sending FedEx 2 day air.... painless and problem resolved.
So, as my opening contribution to the forum I offer this tip: If you want a heavier discount, go to a store at the begining of the month, though if you want more seamless Customer service, call. Phone CS seems more willing to do what they need to do to make you happy and ARE NOT subject to monthly discount limits (not to mention the people are nicer in my experience).
Also, Verizon gets shipments from LG on the 13th of the month. That's the time to inquire about LG phones/accs.
