Blackberry Curve, Sending Pictures, Email Texts

Here's the situation:
Both me and my friend are on Telus.
He has a Blackberry Curve, and it doesn't have MMS.
Therefore, he can only send pictures to my phone through email. (By sending it to 10digitnumber @ msg.telus .com)
I receive the email through text, but the picture doesn't show. Instead, it says <<FILE>>.
It comes as a text message saying that but not as a multimedia message.

Does anyone know what should be done so that I can see the image on my phone?
What should he do? What should I do?
