LG Versa Touch Screen Not Working?

I don't know if this is in the right category, but it says "browser and touch navigation", and there isn't a specific touch screen category, so I decided to add this post here. Basically, yesterday my Versa was working fine, when I woke up this morning due to to alarm I set on the Versa, I found that I couldn't turn it off, after I bit of messing around, I saw what the problem was, the touch screen was completely unresponsive. The hardware buttons still work, but the screen is completely unresponsive, also the screen won't turn off, the LED will turn on and off occasionally, but the screen won't. I can't calibrate it, because there's no way to get to that option in the Touch Settings without using the screen. I checked the back and there is not water damage according to the stickers. I haven't dropped the phone either, It was working completely fine less then 12 hours ago! I've had this phone for about a year, and I'm pretty sure the warranty ran out. Same thing happened to my phone.  BUT I stumbled onto a fix that worked for me.  Hard to believe this, but holding the phone over a heater vent to warm it up brings the touch screen back to life - for a little while.  Discovered this in the car on a cold morning.  Also works using a hair dryer for 10-30 seconds...weird, eh? 

Anybody know why this works?
