Yes i would probably make sure to go to an actual verizon store and not an authorized retailer. Authorized retailers may not have the equipment needed or the training needed to do the upgrade.
You have two methods updating. 1. download it yourself and get the flashing tool Pros of this you don't have to hear there is no update when there is you don't have to wait 20 min for them to do it.
Cons are it can brick the phone and it can have data corruption you might also even need to reprogram the phone...
2. Take it to the Verizon store and have them do it takes 20-30 min costs nothing and if they break your phone they have to give you a new one plus if it needs reactivation or what ever they can do it.
Cons you have to get out of your pj and make a trip to a verizon store you can still loose all your data

I got the new update. Browser works a lot better, but the new widgets on the bottom of the Shortcut screen don't do anything. I click the customize button, try to drag and drop them into an empty spot, but they don't stay.
Anyone know whats up with that?

okay i got the firmware upgrade and now i have those 'widget' things (the clock, calendar and memo pad) that show up whenever i edit my shortcuts page. but when i tried moving them or try to see what functions they have.. they do nothing. i tried clicking on them.. nothing/ tried moving them.. nothing. and you guys say it takes the empty slots and that the clock replaces something?? what does that mean?? im usually good with these sort of things but i cant figure this thing out!!

As this thread says a few posts up it takes 4 empty slots for a widget. Also if you use a digital clock widget the normal clock displayed at the bottom of the screen is not there. Does that clear things up?

Cus you have to do it in ABC, T9,123, write it out w/ a stylus, or symbols.

im kind of wondering something though...
one of the the versa features i was looking forward to was the FOTA (firmware over the air) downloading so that i didnt have to go to the verizon store to get it done.
so how come we have to go to the store and get it done or find a way to upgrade it through your computer when its suppose to be available on for d/l on our phones?
i just dont get it :T

I don't get it either. Employees hate it, the consumer hates it and the employees when busy and you want a firmware update sometimes are just rude.
They certainly need to get the FOTA working... Just makes sense..
I went yesterday to my Versa from 3 to 4 and my fiance's ENV2 to 07. Employees are so busy at the store I go to and they try to be nice but you cant tell, well crap this is all I needed right now. I had to leave them for 2 hours yesterday. Last time was only 45 minutes.
I hope they get it working soon. Get that goofy Verizon guy back in the office for a couple of weeks before he resumes his "can you hear me now business".
