Its out today. Just got back from the verizon store. Upgrading tomorrow. Just lettin yall know.

Pretty sure. Went to 2 different store who both told me the same thing. They told me to come in tomorrow morning, as it was 8:15 and they were past closing and I told them they were wrong, v03 was the latest and I had it (lol) and they told me they got it in last night, so it was available today.

if anyone has gotten the v04 software.. do you know what sort of new features it has?? or if it has any new features??

hahah and i took my phone to get it updated a few days ago.. and now a new update is already here..

Kinda weird...I was trying to swap mine out for a new one cause it keeps turning off randomly, but they wont till I try the new "software". I argued with the woman at the first store and she told me "This is new software, never before seen outside Verizon" when I asked her what version it was. (all I could think is that Versa is only on Verizon so DUH and left). The next store, she didn't know what firmware was >.< and I had to explain I meant to say software, but she said it was at V04 so...

yeah.. when i had my voyager and tried to get it replaced.. they always told me that they had to update it to the most recent firmware to see if that'll fix it.

but new software.. kinda exciting.. ish? hahah i might go tomorrow too and see if my store has the firmware upgrade. im just curious to see what they upgraded and such.

Here's the site that I was sent during the V03 speculation.
It lists all available firmware for Verizon phones including download links.
V03 was listed on this site before, anyone that I had heard of, had V03 on their phone.
To date, VX960V04 is not listed.

Here's my experience this morning:

Well, I initially called the 2 closest stores to me and I got the "you can update your phone over the air" speech from both.  With the first one, I politely explained that I have extensively researched, and the option is not currently functional on the Versa or the Dare.  Now feeling belittled, the rep started getting short with me and the inquiry quickly became a minor argument.  It's pretty sad when Verizon reps aren't as knowledgeable as the customer.  I don't have any electronic or communications field training or experience whatsoever, but I research and experiment . . . . something I'd advise all Verizon employees do.  I don't understand why I know more than “the experts” about their phones.
When I got the same response from the second store, I simply said never mind  and hung up . . . I wasn’t going through that again. 
I decided that I was getting nowhere by calling the stores individually so I decided to call Verizon's customer service and speak with the technical service department . . . . I had to explain exactly what a "firmware update" is and why someone would want one . . . . (I'm really considering picking up a part time job with Verizon, as a hobby, just so I can actually help people).
She finally got me in touch with a store a few more miles away that did confirm that they do have V04 . . . . I’ll be by tonight!

I just called my VZW corp. store and was told they had a new version but they didn't know which one it was.  They are beginning to sound like Alltel!

Here's my experience this morning:

I had basically the same experience at 2 stores in person...I'm 18...and my girlfriend knows more about the phones then the technicians at the stores...I just got my phone replaced (within the 30 day replacement warranty and the guy wanted to argue with me that I was trying to rip them off, when I have to go through all the effort of redoing everything on a new phone just to get NOTHING from them) so I've spent 2 days at 2 different store just to get 2 different phones updated and working...kind of working...

I hate Verizon now...

One of the Sales Reps started teasing the Technician I was dealing with because "They're [Verizon] paying you to have the customer [an 18 year old high school drop out, mind you] teach you how to do your job and you don't understand what they're telling you?"

...why can't I get a job doing this...I have shit i NEED to pay for...like the damn phone bill they charge me...that's why I bought a nice phone...so I'd have a reason to pay $125 a month and say its worth the money...

Dang it! You beat me to it! Anyway I have been thoroughly looking through the phone and I don't really see much different with V04 except it might be slightly faster? I'm not sure I could be totally wrong. I keep trying to attach the pics I took of V04 but for some reason its not working so I'll do it later.
