I notice that if I try yo open a text as soon as it comes in it takes about 4 tries to open it.  If I wait a bit before trying, it opens right away.  Almost seems like it is waiting to be fully received.

I have the same problem with my Lg Versa. It sometimes freezes if I don't  look at the text right away. I returned one phone already and the second phone i recieved from verizon had the same problem. Maybe is a software glitch?

I am convinced that it was the way I was touching the View Now button that was causing the problem for me. I haven't had to push it twice in quite some time. I also haven't had it to lock up after having received a text message either, even if I let it beep for a while. Your phone may have a bug. If it keeps doing that, you might want to exchange it. This is a potential warranty issue.

I think i figured out the answer to the problem. I've had 3 versa already and all had the same problem and it starts after you fill you text message boxes.
The text msg app wasn't designed to work with any other app at the same time. like then your video, music or internet stop when you get a text.
So i think that when you have auto delete on or just get a notification your box is full then the problem arises. The phone gets a new msg and tries to delete the oldest one while downloading the newest one, hence 2 processes at the same time which freezes the phone. same thing with the notification my phone doesn't freeze when i get notified that my inbox if full, it only freezes the moment i delete a msg and the new one comes at the same time to replace it.
As long as i have a inbox with 190 in it instead of the 206-207 then i dont have a problem but once it gets there i risk it freezing.
And the only reason why i noticed this because it didn't start happening to my phone got full.

Although my girlfriend's had the text-freeze issue, mine has yet to do it.  Mine only freezes when I'm using the browser and I get a MobileEmail new message notification.

I think that might be an actual problem, i get emails all the time when im in the browser and it never freezes.

I am on my third Lg Versa Phone. The third phone finally has no freezing defect like my previous two versa's.  I looked under Phone Info, then SW/HW Version and it says VX960V2, does V2 mean version 2 (possibly new software update?)

Sorry, it says VX960V02
FYI, I got my Versa the day it came out and it also displays VX960V02.
My girlfriend got her replacement (brand new phone) three weeks later.
The first thing I did was check the version . . . . It was also VX960V02.

Typically, the last three of the sequence are V##
So it is indeed Version 2.
The versioning available for customers is almost always every other number with the "skipped" number designated for manufacturer testing.
In most cases, the first available version is V03, then V05, then V07 and so on.
It appears as though the Versa was released with firmware version V02.
I assume the next update, when available, will be V04 . . .
